Pi On, asked, “What makes a person Thai?” We were talking about how Thai citizenship makes you a person, many police don’t care the moment you don’t identify as Thai, or carry a white citizenship card. People who are born in Thailand are not considered Thai citizens either. But really, WHAT makes a person Thai?
It is a mix of being Chinese, a little bit of Karen, a little bit of Lahu, a little bit of Mon, a little bit of everything.
I just found out that my mom’s ancestry comes from the Uighurs in Xinjiang, China. The people suffering in Xinjiang now, they are my people in a sense. Think about what makes you who you are, maybe a little African, a little Mexican, a little Chinese, a little Russian, a little Irish- whatever. Our people are dying, they are being trafficked, abused, hungry- fight for your people.
Don’t you see that we are the world? We’re saving our own lives.
